Tuko Logistics

Tuko Logistics is a customer-driven product range, procurement and logistics service company, combining the volumes and the purchasing power of its customer-owners and ensuring efficiency and delivery reliability. Its mission is to act as an integral part of its customer-owners’ value chains. The company has worked with Nurminen Logistics ever since 2003, when Tuko Logistics outsourced its statistics services. The compilation of statistics is related to internal trading within the European Union (Intrastat): no taxes are paid for the goods, but they have to be included in statistics for the authorities. Since 2009, Nurminen has provided Tuko Logistics with import clearance services for products imported from outside the European Union, as well as with palletisation services.

Cooperation with Nurminen has always been smooth and flexible. I appreciate the fact that in its operations, Nurminen takes into account the special needs of each customer and tailors the services to them. For instance, before Nurminen’s new logistics centre at the Vuosaari harbour was completed, they listened carefully to our wishes and catered for them perfectly. I find that Nurminen’s original slogan in the Rauma dialect 'Älä wälit! Ann Nurmise wälittä' (Don’t worry! Let Nurminen take care of things!) still applies.

According to Nurminen

We have handled import forwarding for Tuko Logistics in Vuosaari for a couple of years now. Customs clearance for food supplies is always a bit tricky if the products are imported into Finland from outside the EU, as is the case with Tuko Logistics. When a new import batch arrives, we always contact the Finnish Customs Laboratory to find out whether the Customs want to test the batch. If tests are carried out, we will again act as a messenger between the customer and the Finnish Customs Laboratory. For their part, products of animal origin have to be sent for a veterinary inspection at the border check, which we organise for the customer as well. Let me give you yet another example: when importing tuna preserves, you must present a catch certificate to the Centre of Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. These and other regulations that are revised from time to time make customs clearance for food supplies very different from other types of clearance.
