Tailored Planning
Nurminen’s special and heavy transport services are tailored individually for each customer. Nurminen’s experts help the customer to plan their project and optimise the transport item sizes often long before a transport agreement has been made. During tender calculation, we select the best suited vehicle for transport, plan the route and create a preliminary schedule for the transport. All this has an effect on the transport price. Proper planning can genererate considerable cost savings for the customer.
Sometimes it takes months to plan a transport. Moreover, a transport might require removing traffic signs and lifting power lines and phone cables.
Vehicle and Trailer for All Occasions
Nurminen's special and heavy transport trailer stock includes 35 extendable trailers, extendable low bed trailers and modular trailers, which can be configured according to customer needs. Loads weighing up to 450 tonnes can be transported with these trailers. The company has Europe’s largest heated transport container, which is intended – for example – to transport specially coated paper machine rolls. This container is 17 metres long, three metres wide and three metres tall.
Powerful vehicles are required to pull these trailers. Nurminen's stock has the right truck for every job. In addition to its own equipment, Nurminen has at its disposal a diverse array of equipment from its broad partner network.
Special and Heavy Transport Terminal at Vuosaari
Nurminen’s logistics centre is located in the logistics area of the Vuosaari harbour in Helsinki. The centre has a warehouse for special and heavy transport items with a floor area of over 2,000 square metres. As a result, transport items can be stored and transferred indoors. When the goods are stored at Nurminen's Vuosaari logistics centre, the entire capacity of the customer's production facilities can be used for production. The floor of the special transport warehouse can withstand even the heaviest loads. There are also two bridge cranes that can lift items of up to 80 tonnes. Doors seven metres wide and ten metres tall make it possible to drive large loads straight into the warehouse. The Vuosaari logistics centre occupies a pole position in the harbor logistics area, right next to the IPS-classified closed harbour area. Storing items in the immediate vicinity of the harbour enables flexible and fast service. Large and heavy loads can be transferred directly from the warehouse to the harbour without any more need to transport them along public roads.
