During the listing process, the companys name will be changed to Nurminen Logistics Oyj.
The listing applies to John Nurminen’s logistics operations, and it will not affect Nurminen Prima, Nurminen Ship Agency or the Vuosaari construction project. These and the shares of Skandia Autologistics Oy currently owned by John Nurminen Oy as well as the name “John Nurminen Oy” will remain in the possession of the Nurminen family. The future Nurminen Logistics Oyj will operate the Vuosaari Logistics Centre in accordance with previous plans once it opens.
John Nurminen Oy’s listing will take place as follows: the business will be transferred to Kasola Oyj and John Nurminen will receive Kasola Oyj’s shares as compensation. Kasola Oyj’s name will later be changed to Nurminen Logistics Oyj. During this technical process, the company will have an acting Managing Director and Board of Directors. Later, these duties will be taken over by John Nurminen Oy’s current Board of Directors and current Managing Director Lasse Paitsola. The aim is to commence operations as a public company under the name Nurminen Logistics Oyj on 1 January 2008.
John Nurminen Oy’s entire staff will transfer to the new company on their existing terms of employment.
“In the history of a 121-year-old family business, going public is a significant operation. The purpose of this move is to create opportunities for growth and broad-based international operations. The family owners will continue to be actively involved in the future and will retain approximately 80 per cent of the company’s shares even after the listing,” comments Juha Nurminen, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The importance of growth is also emphasised by Managing Director Lasse Paitsola.
“John Nurminen is a major player in, for example, goods traffic between Finland and Russia with nearly 800 wagons, and in the autumn of 2008, we will launch operations in the Vuosaari Harbour Centre of the Port of Helsinki, where we will operate a large logistics centre. Moreover, the company has invested heavily in healthcare logistics, and we are already Finland´s largest private player in the medical transport business. Our goal is to be the market and quality leader as a provider of the chosen logistics services. With these arrangements, the owners also want to secure the conditions for business growth and financing through the stock exchange,” says Paitsola.
John Nurminen’s business units will continue their operations as usual, and the listing will not have an effect on staff numbers.
“Going public will give us an even better opportunity to stand out as a diverse logistics expert and offer our customers more comprehensive service,” says the Managing Director.
