The logistics company John Nurminen Oy will establish a new company to take over its fine art logistics and conservation services on 1 December 2005. The company will be called Nurminen Prima Oy. It will operate in a field with promising growth prospects, and the aim is to provide the Fine Art Logistics Unit with an opportunity to grow and develop independently.
The spin-off is a natural step in the development of John Nurminen’s Fine Art Logistics Unit. The unit’s operations have been successful.
“We are convinced that fine art logistics and conservation services have great future potential. The unit can profit from this best by developing and growing independently and finding new business areas and partners. We want to build a company that offers comprehensive fine art logistics and conservation services,” says John Nurminen’s Managing Director Jan Lönnblad.
The company’s business will continue as before. Isto Kiviniemi, Director of the Fine Art Logistics Unit, has been appointed Managing Director of Nurminen Prima. The rest of the unit’s personnel, too, will enter the new company’s service without loss of seniority. The unit has used the name Nurminen Prima also before, in 1991 - 2002.
“Fine art logistics and conservation services are a unique line of
business in the versatile John Nurminen Group. For example,
conservation services aren’t necessarily a natural part of a logistics
company’s offerings, and that’s why we have taken this decision,” adds
Nurminen Prima’s Managing Director Isto Kiviniemi.
The Fine Art Logistics Unit will be formed into a company on 1
December 2005. Nurminen Prima’s Vantaa and Moscow offices will employ
30 experts in fine art logistics and conservation services. Nurminen
Prima is seeking growth on the Russian market, among others. In
addition, there is much potential demand for art collection management
services in Finland.
“In spite of the spin-off, fine art logistics and conservation
services will continue to belong to the Nurminen family, although as a
more independent member,” explains John Nurminen’s Managing Director
Jan Lönnblad.
