SkandiaTransport acquired by John Nurminen

John Nurminen Oy, a Finnish family-owned logistics company will expand in Scandinavia and strengthen its position as the leading vehicle logistics player in the Nordic and Baltic region. John Nurminen Oy has acquired the share capital of NSG Logistics, which means that the company will become the owner of AB SkandiaTransport, SkandiaTransport A/S and Göteborgs PDI AB. After the deal, John Nurminen’s turnover will rise to approximately EUR 155 million and the number of employees to around one thousand. The shares were sold by Procuritas Capital Partners II, a fund specialised in management buyouts in the Nordic countries.

AB SkandiaTransport is the largest Swedish company specialising in vehicle logistics. During Procuritas ownership SkandiaTransport has expanded from one location (Halmstad) into Gothenburg, Malmö, Södertälje and Copenhagen, sales has increased of more than 50 % and the company is today market leader in Sweden.

SkandiaTransports share of the Swedish vehicle transport market is about 50 %. Moreover, the company is one of the leading providers of pre-delivery inspections in Sweden. In 2005, SkandiaTransport´s turnover amounted to around EUR 53.5 million, and it employed some 350 persons.

John Nurminen is a Finnish family-owned logistics company established in 1886.  In 2005, John Nurminen’s turnover totalled EUR 102 million. The company employs nearly 700 persons in Finland, Russia and the Baltic countries. John Nurminen comprises six business units: Special and Heavy Transports, Timber Division, Railway Logistics, Cargo Handling and Value-Added Services, Customs Clearance Services and Ship Agency Services. Subsidiaries Nurminen Autologistics Oy and Nurminen Autotrans Oy are in charge of John Nurminen’s vehicle logistics, while Nurminen Prima Oy’s line of business is fine art logistics and conservation services.

The deal will increase significantly the coverage of John Nurminen Group´s vehicle logistics services in the Baltic Sea region, enabling car deliveries to dealers in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Baltic countries and Russia. As a result of the deal, the number of cars handled annually by the John Nurminen units in charge of vehicle logistics will amount to 488 000.
