Mika Ritonen’s career at Nurminen Logistics reflects how a role can evolve – growing from operational work into a position with broader international scope and impact.
Mika joined the company while studying business logistics, starting with export documentation and quickly moving into international rail shipments, including traffic between Finland and China. Over time, he progressed to Team Leader in the Rail & Multimodal team, working with shipments across Europe, China, and the Nordic countries in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.
A mix between daily operations and new services
Today, as Operations Manager, Rail, his responsibilities extend across Nurminen Logistic’s intermodal and rail services. His role combines overseeing daily operations with driving the development of new services and routes together with teams in Sweden and Finland, as well as suppliers and partners across international markets.
“In practice, my day-to-day work is about running the operations and developing new services together with my team in Sweden and Finland, and of course with our suppliers and partners across different markets globally,” says Mika Ritonen, Operations Manager, Rail.
New train connection between Italy and Sweden
A recent example is a new train connection between Parma, Italy and Frövi, Sweden, supporting the continued expansion of Nurminen Logistic’s European rail network. For Mika, the most meaningful part of his work is the opportunity to contribute to new international openings and follow each initiative from planning to execution.
“What I value most in my role, and in the company, is the chance to be involved in opening new international markets and to really see the whole process through from start to finish.”
Mika's journey highlights how careers at Nurminen Logistics can evolve – expanding in scope, responsibility, and international reach.
