Nurminen Logistics has published its first Group-level sustainability report. Covering 2025, the report has been prepared in accordance with the Basic and Comprehensive Modules of the voluntary European VSME standard. It brings together the company’s key sustainability topics, results and next development steps.
– This is Nurminen Logistics’ first sustainability report. It lays the foundation for the long-term development of our sustainability efforts and transparent reporting of sustainability information, says Olli Pohjanvirta, President and CEO of Nurminen Logistics.
Rail logistics plays a key role in climate action
Sustainability at Nurminen Logistics is closely linked to the company’s core business. By developing rail and multimodal transport solutions, the company enables its customers to shift freight from road to lower-emission modes of transport.
In 2025, Nurminen Logistics developed new rail transport solutions and routes between the Nordic countries and Central Europe. This work continued in early 2026 with the launch of the company’s block train service between Sweden and Italy.
More reliable and comprehensive emissions data
In 2025, Nurminen Logistics improved the quality and coverage of its carbon footprint calculations. Emissions calculations for purchased logistics and transport services were made more accurate by reducing spend-based estimates and increasingly collecting emissions data directly from logistics partners.
As a significant share of transport operations is carried out through the company’s partner network, close cooperation and more accurate transport and emissions data play a key role in reducing emissions.
Sustainability practices strengthened across the Group
The company updated its Code of Conduct and introduced a new Supplier Code of Conduct. It also revised its personnel and information security policies and introduced a new AI policy.
The first Group-level EcoVadis assessment provided an external perspective on the current state of the company’s sustainability work and its key development areas. Employee well-being remained at an excellent level, while safety, competence and work ability were strengthened through training and consistent operating practices.
Nurminen Logistics will next focus on preparing greenhouse gas emission reduction targets and assessing climate risks. This work will support the development of a future climate transition plan.
